CLINICAL STUDY OF FINGER TIP INJURIES


Abstract
The stastistical study includes 249 consecutive patiens to whom underwent classic surgery excludes replantation.
The injured finger tip can be managed in murious methods, such as conservative treatment, primary closure, skin graft, local and distant flap, composite graft, neurovascular island flap, etc. Three hundred & four finger tip injuries in 249 patients treated at the Dong Kang Hospital between June 1981 and June 1989 were analysed and obtained the following results
1. Third decades were most commonly affected(38 %), and male was 81 %.
2. Finger tip injuries most commonly occured in May(14 %).
3. Single digit injuries were most common(81 %).
4. Right hand finger injuries were predominant(60 %).
5. Laborers were most commonly affected(80 %).
6. The main cause of finger tip injury was kind of pressor(39 %).
7. The main type of injury was a crushing injury at the nail matrix(64 %).
8. The index finger was most commonly injured(38 %) and the nail matrix was most com
monly involved level of the finger tip injury(39 %).
9. Regional anesthesia was mainly used to treat finger tip injuries.
10. A distant falp was mainly used to treat finger tip injuries, and the primary closure was n.
